Although “Participating matters more than winning the Olympics” had been around since the time ancient, I share more pragmatic modern notion that “Victory matters more than any training”.
This Olympiad marred subtly with bombs on Ossetia demonstrated a real Olympic spirit as athletes of disputing places gathered together, friendly hugging each other, nothing to fight for but an Olympic gold.

Some competitors were more lucky, some less to win, and also this time an Australian team is at a sixth place considering a number of medals won, a gold result by Matthew Mitcham in diving, is of a special Australia’s pride as this achievement was gained since an Australian diver was the best in 1924 .
Let the Olympic spirit reign not during the Games only!
